Terrible 1’s ?

I heard of the terrible two’s way before motherhood danced into my life.  However, no one ever mentioned the terrible 1’s.  The closest I ever came to spending day and night with a one year was with my younger brother.  He was a sweet, gentle little boy who absolutely adored his parents and had mixed feelings about his older sis.  My nephew and niece were semi well-behaved; a little hyper at time, but I never witnessed any 2ish like behavior in their ones. I just assumed my daughter wouldn’t visit this tumultuous time until she was two.

About 15 months old my daughter began to show signs of resistance and defiance.  It began with her wanting to take the initiative to feed herself.  I welcomed this new independence with open arms; which mom wouldn’t want a one year to show self-feeding habits.  Around the same time dropping objects or leaning over the side of the highchair to drop her food became a daily exercise.

When I’m in the backyard and it’s time to go in I always get resistance. For the most part, I just end up picking her up casually carrying her indoors, even if she’s squealing and kicking. I do this confidently, as if to say to her I know you’re tired and cross, but when we have to go in we have to.

At 16 months old, I am ordered to read the same book to her at least 12 times in one session.  The good part is I’ve memorized most of her little sesame street board books.  This happens about 5 times throughout the day and this is not including her bedtime stories. If I’m lucky enough she’ll place a new unread board book in my hand, otherwise it’s the same book throughout the day.

Her favorite word of the moment is “This”.  Everything is “This” and every now and then she’s throw in the word “Up.”  It’s easy to decipher what she’s referring to because she walks to the area where the object is located and begins pointing.  I spend anywhere between 2-5 minutes picking up various food items from the kitchen or books from her shelf until she starts clapping her hands as sign of confirmation.

My little girl has also mastered the art of screaming and squealing in several different octaves.  Temper-tanturms are a daily occurrence if she doesn’t get what she wants.  I’ll divert her attention by giving her a replacement object or showing her Dr.Seuss flash cards.

Sometimes I wonder if she’s deliberately trying to annoy me, but realize my baby girl is growing up and thriving. She’s fascinated by a new skill and wants to practice and do the same thing all day long.  I miss the brief moments that I could run to my laptop and write, or escape to the potty without having her lean against the bathroom door until I get out.  In a strange way I’m enjoying this contradictory stage or semi-dependency. I’m fortunate enough to experience it and see her graduate to the terrible twos.

Cut up some coupons to save money

Coupon Clipping

Coupon clipping has become mainstream these days. There are websites, television shows and magazine article all offering ways to save money. Though the concept looks simple, the process does require a fair amount of work. This article can help you become coupon savvy, just like them.

To get coupons for brands you particularly enjoy, all you have to do is ask. Many companies are willing to send out coupons to people who email or write to them. Simply send a letter noting how much you enjoy a product and ask if they would provide you with coupons. You will be surprised at how often they oblige!

One method of securing coupons easily is taking advantage of the Sunday newspaper. Sunday papers almost always have coupons, unless it is a Sunday before a major holiday. Different newspapers have different coupons, so get a local one as well as the newspaper for the closest metropolitan city to ensure you have a range of coupons.

A good tip if you like to use coupons is not to get carried away with simply clipping out coupons. Only keep coupons that you intend to use. If something is on sale that you’re unlikely to buy, then you should just leave it. Time is also money so you don’t want to waste more than you have to.

Be prepared to spend a few days a month getting your coupons together. This is necessary if you are going to do couponing and be completely successful at it. You will also have to visit several different stores on your shopping trip to get the very best deals that you can in your area.

Use your coupons with items already on sale. This will help you to get the best possible discount. The majority of coupons are good for at least three months, so it pays to hold onto them for a good while. Coupons that are combined with sales can really save you much money on your grocery bill.

Don’t clip everything. Whatever you do, avoid the trap of keeping all the coupons you can just because you “might” use them. If the coupon is for something you don’t like or can live without, forget it. Paying money for something you don’t really enjoy is not a good idea, even if you save a few bucks on it.

If you are clipping coupons, add a binder to your list of supplies. A binder is a great way to store and organize your coupons, and you can carry it with you every time you shop. Having it on hand will help to ensure that you use the coupons you clip and save money.

Watch yourself carefully when you are collecting coupons and avoid clipping something just because it is a good deal. Just because you can get a large dollar amount off, it does not instantly mean you should use the coupon. If the brand is not one that you would normally buy, you can actually end up wasting money by using the great coupon you have found.

As you probably know already, there are coupons all over the place. They can save you quite a bit of money if they are used correctly and are organized in the right way. Utilize the tips you’ve just read in order to begin your couponing quest right now.

Bullying In The Workplace

BULLYING IN THE WORKPLACE

A month ago, I was channel surfing and decided to watch “The Devil Wears Prada.” I’ve seen this movie a few times already, but I can’t get over the workplace dynamics that take place on screen.  Andy, a smart, ambitious and hardworking graduate lands a job at a high-fashion magazine.

Throughout the film you’ll witness the “main bullies”; Emily, Andy’s counterpart seems to take pleasure ripping Andy to shreds every chance she gets. While her high-profile boss played by Meryl Streep uses her as a daily punching bag giving her impossible deadlines and tasks. The “cattiness” and “bullying” is seen throughout the entire film.

It’s apparent that female-to-female workplace bullying pushes the hardest buttons and are strongly evident. From my own personal experience, women are more subtle and craftier using this miserable tactic to feel empowered. These women take great pleasure in verbally, psychologically and emotionally bullying their co-workers. Whether it’s reputation smearing, insensitive remarks or purposely sabotaging another co-workers career; work place bullying amongst women is at an all-time high.

Why are women so catty? I believe there are a few components that play a main role, both psychological, emotional and sociological. I have listed a few characteristics that may describe why women become so hateful.

  1. Envy – Your respected and revered. It can be something as petty as your tardiness at work- to your ability to communicate and get along with your co-workers. Some women will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it means hurting you.
  2. Jealousy – You have a nicer wardrobe, prettier ankles or a better-looking boyfriend. I know it’s petty to even mention, but it’s a fact. Women are prone to be critical and undermining of other women when they don’t have what another one does.
  3. Insecurity –Insecurity is the feeling that your self-confidence, identity and self-worth are threatened. Your counterpart backstabs, trash-talks and undermines anyone in sight to feel empowered.
  4. Competition – Let’s face it ladies, cattiness and competition go hand in hand. Women are wired to be competitive, but usually feel uneasy to desire something and having to fight for it.

So when does this type of behavior become unhealthy? Cattiness, especially in a work environment, takes on a different meaning when the remarks and behavior become so fierce and malicious that it affects someone’s productivity, job performance, comfort and safety. What’s the best way to disassociate or protect oneself from catty behavior in the workplace?

  1. Focus on your job – It’s called a workplace because your there to work. Focus on your job responsibilities and growing within your company/industry.
  2. Positive People –Sometimes it may be difficult to find positive individuals in certain work situations, but try and seek out people to connect to that do not engage in the behavior you are trying to avoid.
  3. Self-Control – Don’t act out. Your conscience may tell you to let her have it. If you imitate her behavior you’re only letting her win. The best strategy is to avoid provocation and practice lady-like decorum. In other words, kill her with kindness. If she gets a whiff that her antics are working; she’ll only become more vicious.
  4. Trust Takes Time – No one likes to feel alone. It’s human nature to desire a connection with others, but remember to stay guarded and get to know your co-worker(s) before revealing or swapping personal information. Even if you feel an instant connection with this person, restrain yourself. From experience, the people who typically warm up to you immediately are usually the biggest snakes and co-conspirators. So take your time- it worth it in the end and in the process you may end up meeting a very good life long friend.
  5. Minimize Confrontation –Avoid having your opponent know that they got the best of you. Don’t run to your supervisor or Human Resources person to report a petty incident unless it’s a dangerous threat. Understand that HR works for the company and what you disclose will be and can be used against you if needed. Cattiness is very common and unless this person is threatening your life or physiologically hurting you do not report it. Walking away or smiling can always retort a stupid remark.
  6. Proof– If your work situation is threatening your career or well-being then it’s time to keep tabs on everything that happens. If you get an email, text, call or correspondence put it aside for safekeeping. Video-recording might be against work place policy, so tread lightly if that’s the route you plan on taking.
  7. Don’t Engage –I use to work in a company where every individual was catty. There wasn’t a soul I could confide in or feel comfortable discussing personal matters with let alone my work related issues. In this type of situation it’s best to keep to yourself and JUST work.

If you’re a perpetrator maybe you should take a step back and ask yourself why you find it necessary to belittle others. Were you bullied at your last employment and feel that your cattiness helps you feel entitled? Do you feel threatened because you lack a certain skill set and feel that someone more qualified may take your role? Do you hate women because of other personal issues not related to work? This type of behavior is easily corrected and can also give you a chance for personal reflection and growth.

Ladies, its time we start respecting and supporting one another. Women have fought for over a century to achieve equality in the work place, yet we are deflating our own efforts by participating in unnecessary, destructive and catty behavior. If you’re a perpetrator, act your age and show some civility. Use competition to your advantage, instead of acting out, being scornful and mean; learn to smile with confidence and hide your emotions. I’ll use Don Drapper from Mad Men as a perfect example; he’s elusive, charming and controlled; those character traits contributed to his success, prominence and esteem on the show. We were given these amazing opportunities because other women lacked them and fought long and hard to attain them. The next time a co-worker gossips, judges or acts hateful set an example by walking away. This might set precedence and show others that you no longer find it amusing or tasteful.

Saying No To Motherhood

Saying No To Motherhood

Fewer women are willing to get married and raise children than ever before. The CDC reports that of the 19% of childless women between the ages of 40 and 44, almost half are childfree by there own choosing.  Motherhood is turned into an all-consuming role during the past few decades– tyrannizing women’s thoughts and conversations – possibly because the pressure on mothers to get it right is tremendous than ever before. When a man has a child he retains his identity and gets the title of “daddy”, almost overnight, when a woman has a baby she’s a mother first, and maybe something else, a lawyer or nurse.

This is the new generation of women who opt to remain child-free. There are many reasons a woman might find herself childless. Some women desperately want to have a child but are unable to; they never met Mr.Right or they prioritized other things in their childbearing years. Some may call these women narcissistic, self-regarding or just women who lack that strong maternal gene. Yet choosing not to have children is still the exception, not the rule.

As a mother, I can tell you first hand that raising a child is a 24 hour job.  Before I had my daughter I always pictured motherhood as a smooth road with very little terrain in sight. Motherhood was a world of Disney cartoons, pretty ballerina dresses and cute themed birthday parties. Obviously, I was wrong. My baby girl came into this world very little, scared and needy. No matter how many books I read or the loving advice I took from others nothing prepared me for the painful physical recovery from a difficult birth, breast-feeding issues, disagreements with my husband, the on-set of the baby blues and sleep deprivation.

As my little girl thrived and matured I fell deeper in love with her coos, smiles, drools and fits.  Challenges still exist, but I made a choice to love another unconditionally, selflessly and whole-heartly. Motherhood is a complicated bond, but also an amazing responsibility.   We live in an era where woman have the choice to marry or remain single without being judged. More women are CEO’s of companies and this astounding trend continues to grow.

There are countless reasons why some choose not to have children; there own childhood was filled with pain, neglect and abuse. We also came from a generation of divorce and many women are afraid of repeating their parent’s mistakes. Times are trying; the Internet and social media makes the task of raising a child that much more difficult. Many women would rather find love before getting married and having children. Then you have a segment that is married, but is content without the baby carriage.

My friends who are child-free, made a conscious decision not to bring a child into this world. These women are also accomplished, well-traveled and financially successful.  Along the way they took personal inventory of their lives and felt parenting was their cup of tea. The truth is, having a child won’t complete you or ensure happiness.  Women who are child-free are not selfish, but courageous.  These are women who geniunely know themselves and are content with their own existence. They fully grasp the concept of motherhood and have decided to forfeit something very precious in order to live life happily on there own terms.

How Lifestyle Affects Your Skin

How Lifestyle Affects Your Skin

You might find it hard to believe, but several factors greatly affect the way your skin looks now and as you age. Where you live, your occupation, marital status, stress, exercise and child rearing are just a few. Basically every little detail of your life affects you and the way your skin looks and feels.

Where you live?

Living in a region with high humidity and hotter climate conditions causes overproduction of the oil glands in your skin, which leads to clogs pores, blackheads and acne. If your a city dweller you already know that city life, pollution and poor air quality can wreck your skin and also cause premature aging. This should come as no surprise; in a big city your body is trying to ward off bad elements. When you live in the country your body is getting the benefits of fresh air, greenery, farm cultivation and good microbes. Dry climates, such as California and Arizona have less humidity, so your skin dries out much faster and skin allergens are more prevalent in such climates.

Your JOB

If you hate you job then you’ll also hate to hear that an unpleasant work environment affects your skin. The occasional breakout is normal, but if you’re dealing with a bad case of acne, then your job may be one of the factors. Stress is not only bad on your skin but is also determental to your heart, digestion, joints and muscle energy levels. If a co-worker or boss is making it unbearable to work, it might be a good time to update your resume.

STRESS

I keep using the word “stress” to get my point across and for good reason. Stress reaps havoc on your physical and mental well-being. Google the word stress and you’ll get an onslaught of articles and tips related to stress. We know and understand the word “stress”, but what causes our body to react in such a negative way. Stress is your body’s way of reacting to any kind of demand or danger.   It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When someone feels stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood stream.

EXERCISE:

Ladies, exercising may be the real fountain of youth. Every time you exercise your causing increased blood flow, which is a godsend for your skin. An inactive life will age your skin and worse yet cause various health problems. Simply put, exercising is the magic elixir of life and an almost a cure-all for your skin dilemmas. Even a brisk 30-minute walk 3 times a week does wonders for you skin. Just make sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin after each workout.

YOUR SKIN PRODUCTS

Do you change your skin routine? The skin routine you had when you were 16 will not benefit you when your 30. In your teens, you main concern might have been acne, but as you age, you skin and it’s needs change. As a teen you might have applied benzoyl peroxide and used a stronger cleanser for your skin care needs. In your twenties and thirties your skin gradually begins it’s descent and the collagen levels in your skin decline. At this point it’s important to find a mild, yet effective cleanser and a moisturizer and serum suited for your skin type. Finding the right cleanser, moisturizer, serum may take some time, but once you find something your skin responds to then stick with it. Prematurely changing your skin-care regimen can also work against you. Too much variety can actually hurt your skin instead of nourishing and maintaining it. Find a skin routine that is realistic for your lifestyle and skin type. Don’t buy a toner because a salesgirl recommended it, she works on commission. If you know that an additional product will take up unnecessary shelf space in your medicine cabinet then forgo the purchase. Now or days, you can find a good cleanser that does the job of both cleanser and toner.

What You Are Eating:

Your diet is the most important thing to getting and maintaining clear skin. You can’t have Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and Mickey D’s for lunch and expect to have healthy skin. Without the right foods, minerals and nutrients your skin will show for it. If you eat a well-balanced meal, which consists of whole grains, protein, fruits and vegetables your skin will show for it. Stop drinking soda, flavored coffees & teas with excessive sugar.  Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water and 2 cups a green tea a day (preferably after a meal).

Once you begin making subtle changes in your lifestyle you’ll not only have healthier looking skin, but a better physical and

Is It Possible To Make Your Child Smarter?

The short answer is maybe. Experts now acknowledge that approximately half of an individual’s intelligence depends upon genetics and half by other variables, including diet and early experiences. Here were referring to the sort of intelligence that is assessed by traditional IQ tests. There are additional kinds of intelligence, such as social intelligence, athleticism or musical intelligence. These characteristics most likely rely on both genes and experience.  A person’s gene offers a rough model for the brain, however the facts are filled in by experience. Family genes determine the primary pathways that connect various brain regions. For example, when a child learns to speak English, specific nerve circuits grow more substantial. At the same time, circuits which are different to other languages disappear. Gene also affects just how easily or quickly an individual can acquire certain kinds of knowledge or talent. In this way, family genes may stage an individual’s abilities in a certain direction ( like a “math person” or “social butterfly”) Genes also establish limitations for what a young child can realistically accomplish. The experiences a child has influences the brain’s circuitry, but the mind plays a large part in identifying what experiences a child looks for and enjoys. Smart parents help their kids foster their talents and respect their limitations.
Some of the earliest information on learning emerged from a Swiss psychologist named Jean Piaget. Piaget believed that human development evolves in phases. Through careful observation of these phases, he concludes that an infant with little capability to think abstractly is able to reason logically, create concepts about how things function, and invents new thoughts and behaviors of its very own.
According to Wikipedia-Intelligence plays a vital part in predicting our abilities and potential. Combining culture and ideas has a huge impact on cognitive learning. In other words, different cultures place varying degrees of importance on intelligence. Consequently, what one country regards as a “smart” child another country might not consider a “smart”, which is the basic idea of successful intelligence.”Successful intelligence includes the socio-cultural surroundings and people’s ability to achieve success in the environment and in their individual standards (Steinberg & Grigorenko, 2004).” Distinct cultures value different experiences and elements within there society. This is how they ultimately excel in there environment. All types of learning changes the brain, but that doesn’t mean that we can create superbabies by relentless stimulation. The best type of learning occurs when a child is happy, relaxed, and actively involved.
The best experience for infants are those that make sense to them. Does your baby smile, laugh, coo or does she become impatient and fussy. For instance I began using flashcards with my daughter at about 6 months. Initially, the enthusiasm was there, but as she became mobile and more curious about her surrounding the flash cards held little excitement for her. Maybe I’ll reintroduce them in the future, but for now she’s more content with her Books, Lego Set, Fisher price toys and Plastic cups.

How To Boost Your Metabolism after 30 and Lose Weight

The only way healthy changes can last a lifetime is if it’s a realistic expectation.  If you don’t enjoy what you eat and mull around about it, you’re bound to feel unhappy.  If you take that route, you’ll soon fall back into the same bad habits.  With so much misconception about metabolism in social media and the news outlets it’s easy to feel misguided. Making lifestyle changes require mental and physical preparation. So, what is metabolism?

On the most fundamental level, metabolism is a method by which your body modifies the food and water you consume into energy for immediate use or reserved for later use. This energy powers your every movement and action your body performs, including such simple tasks as brushing your teeth and getting dressed in the morning. Every human being has to eat and drink in order to live, but without water you can die within a few days. Your body is comprised of 60% water; the organs in the body require water to maintain a healthy size and shape.

Simply put, If you eat less junk food choose healthier meals without depriving your yourself and exercise, you’ll lose weight and benefit from all the positive attributes.

You’ll have more energy, quality sleep, improved brain function, blood pressure and cardiovascular health. Carbohydrates, protein, and fats-are known as macro-nutrients and elements present in your daily food intake. All three components are necessary in order to retain energy and optimize your metabolic rate. When you exclude a fat or carbohydrate from your diet – this deficit increases cravings and ultimately leads to other vitamin and mineral inefficiencies.

Ever since the late Dr. Atkins came out with his carbohydrate-detesting, protein loving phenomenon, you’ve seen a surge of products in your grocer’s aisle with low-carb claims. Good carbs, such as pasta and wheat bread are our primary fuel source for metabolism and provide energy to our muscles and brain cells. What people fail to realize that it’s not the carbohydrates in our diet, but the processed sugars and sweeteners- this is what is contributing to the increase in obesity and health problems.

After 30 it’s harder to keep your hormones balanced and losing weight becomes difficult largely because of sex hormones.  Diet and exercise will ultimately work to balance out the hormones so that they work harmoniously. In the past, you might have been able to reach your ideal weight in no time, but as you age sustaining your normal weight will be difficult.  You can maintain a healthy BMI and regulate your metabolism by:

  • Eating a balanced breakfast of lean protein and fiber, which assists in jet fueling your metabolism for the day. If you skip a morning meal, your body starts off at a more lethargic pace.
  • You don’t have to spend hours on the elliptical or treadmill to see results. Start with a brisk 30 minutes walk per day. A realistic approach helps you stay motivated and burn calories.
  • Put aside daily me-time. Being stressed affects your hormones and slows down your metabolic rate.
  • Prepare your dinner instead of dining out. By cooking at home you can avoid adding excessive amounts of sodium, sugar and saturated fat.
  • Fruits and veggies are packed with excellent fiber. Eat various fruits or vegetables throughout the day and avoid empty calories such as junk food.

How To Get The Best Cup Of Coffee At Home

Nothing revives you and puts you in a good  mood as much as a cup of coffee can. Still, it’s a subject that can be quite broad and extensive. There are so many different flavors and brands to choose from;light roast or dark roast, organic coffee or your conventional cup of Joe. Follow some of these great tips and you’ll be sure to get a great cup of brew.

Be sure that the temperature of the water for your coffee reaches between 195 to 205 degrees. A lot of commercial coffeemakers don’t boil water thoroughly, so try boiling water in pot before adding it to the pot. A simple French press is always a good idea.Consider using a French press for brewing rich, flavorful coffee. Regular coffee filters absorb the precious oils that a French press enhances. But French presses employ a plunger mechanism that works to send coarse coffee beans to the carafe’s floor. The oils will stay in your coffee, giving it more flavor.  After making coffee, stir it into the pot. Giving the coffee a little bit of a stir helps to enhance the flavor of the brew. The coffee will be served with a more robust and richer taste.  Water is a critical component when making coffee. Coffee made from tap water probably won’t taste as pleasant as bottled water . Water with minerals in it is usually a good choice for brewing coffee. Otherwise, your brew has the chance of becoming bitter or overly acidic.  If you can’t afford a new coffee machine, get the most out of your old model by brewing a pot of plain water before each batch. Use that hot water to make your coffee. This way, you can make sure that the water is hot and the coffee is flavorful.

Put some money towards a simple coffee grinder. Grinding coffee beans immediately prior to brewing leaves the aromatic, flavorful oils alone and your coffee tastes fresher. Coffee grinders are able to change the coarseness or fineness of the grind depending on your preference. Many coffee makers come with a built in grinder so you don’t have to have a machine for grinding and then another for brewing.Don’t store your coffee near the stove. If you coffee is stored near a heat source, it can lose its flavor. Avoid placing your coffee canister near the stove, microwave or heating vents.

If your having a difficult time creating the same flavorful brew as your nearest Starbucks then use more coffee. Experiment and with different ratios and make adjustments as you go along until you get your desired flavor.  Typically, coffee houses such as Starbucks mix six ounces of water for every two tablespoons full of coffee grounds. If your tired of you standard brew then spice it up with cinammon or add a touch of chocolate. Dark chocolate works great with an early-morning cup of coffee as well. Brown and raw sugars add distinctive flavors compared to plain white granulated sugar. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, vanilla and other flavor extracts mingle well with the taste of coffee, too. If you enjoy your coffee with milk or creamer, try using non-dairy alternatives like rice soy or almond milk.

In order to maintain the flavor from a fresh brew of coffee, make sure you remove it from the burner after approximately ten minutes. Leaving your coffee there any longer will make it burn and give it a bitter taste. If you are concerned about keeping the coffee heated, use a thermos to contain the beverage.  Once coffee is done brewing, don’t leave it in the coffee maker. By leaving the pot in, the coffee will continue to brew. This can ruin the flavor. If you don’t plan on drinking it all, put the remaining amount into insulated containers so that it remains warm. For great iced coffee, put a French press full in the fridge overnight. This will chill down the machine for hours prior to using it in the morning. This, combined with ice-cold water helps give your coffee a fresh, clean taste.

Be sure that the temperature of the water for your coffee reaches between 195 to 205 degrees. A lot of coffeemakers you can buy won’t be that hot. Try heating up the water yourself. A simple French press is always a good idea.

As you know by now, there seems to be no limit to the amount of flavors and options when it comes to coffee. Options are endless between home brews and coffee shops.

Adult Acne Causes and Remedies

When you are an adult, the last thing you want to be worried about are pimples. Acne does not only affect teenagers, adults can suffer from acne as well. The psychological and social impacts of acne are a huge concern, even for adults.   This article will give you some great tips to control your adult acne.

When your dealing with acne, try to remember that it’s a common problem that many people have to endure. Adult acne can be especially trying, as we often do not associate adults with acne. However, if you are prone to acne you will probably have acne throughout your life. Finding a good skin care routine and maintaining a positive attitude when you have flare-ups is the key to dealing with the psychological effects of acne.

Many times acne flare-ups can be linked to some kind of emotional or physical stress.  Stress, hormonal issues can cause breakouts or flare-ups of varying severity. One way to rid yourself of this kind of acne is by avoiding or reducing stress. Try things like meditating, exercising or just relaxing when you feel overwhelmed.

Allowing yourself to sweat can flush toxins from your skin. While sweat is often thought of as a culprit for acne breakouts, in reality, it is the failure to cleanse after sweating that is the problem. The act of sweating is actually beneficial to your skin, as it allows your body to flush out toxins. Just make sure to cleanse thoroughly after your workout or sauna session with a good salicylic acid cleanser such as Phisoderm.

In order to clear up and prevent acne, make sure you’re not actually washing your skin too much. A gentle wash twice a day is sufficient. While washing is obviously important for skin care, washing too vigorously or too much can actually harm your skin as it may irritate and dry it out. An effective solution to keeping pores clean of blemishes and blackhead is by using the Clarsonic Mia 2 in combination with a mild cleanser such as Philosophy Purity Made Simple

Avoid popping and picking on pimples this can ultimately extend the healing time and increase  scarring. Bacteria can get pushed further into the pores, leading to more swelling and redness. Don’t spend hours examining  your blemishes in the mirror. This can cause a desire to pick or extract the lesions and subsequently worsen the condition.

Acne scars can be eliminated via surgery, such as laser surgery. This is something that has to be recommended by a dermatologist. Basically, they use a gentle laser and go over the scars. Through repeated treatments, you will start to see these scars diminish and go away for long periods of time.

If your acne is extremely bad, see a good recommended dermatologist or a doctor. Oral medication for acne, such as Accutane are available if  topical solutions, such as Retin-A fail to deliver results. Acne medication, such as Accutane have severe side-effects and can cause more harm than good. If your doctor feels your a candidate for such a drug, you’ll be tested and monitored closely during your treatment.  Birth control can both be a cause and a preventative treatment for acne. For many adult women, going on the pill is to treat their adult acne. The pills contain hormones that can help the hormones find balance and some will begin to have clearer skin from a hormone regimine.  Many times though, when they get off of the pill, this can cause they’re hormones to go haywire and they can start breaking out again.

Change your bed linens frequently to avoid oil accumulation, which leads to skin problems. Oils and dirt from your face will get onto your pillow cases and your sheets and transfer onto your skin.  Wash linens often to stop this transfer loop.

For those who are prone to outbreaks of acne, it is important to avoid excessive touching of the face. The bacteria which causes acne (Propionibacterium acne) is a normal inhabitant on a person’s face. This bacteria does not lead to acne until it becomes trapped inside a person’s hair follicle. When a person touches their face excessively, this can force the bacteria into these openings and form acne. If you find yourself sitting with your chin in your hand or on your cheek, tell yourself to stop. When you touch your face a lot you are transferring bacteria and oils which will worsen your acne.

Your diet can also contribute to acne and other skin conditions. Examine your diet and add foods that will help alleviate your condition, also seek advice from your medical professional to see if there is a link between your food intake and flare-ups. Keeping healthy on the inside can help prevent additional outbreaks. Eat more fiber such as, quinoa, whole grains and oatmeal. Drink 6-8 glasses of water and drink at least 2-3 cups of green tea a day.  Eat vitamin rich vegtables and fruits, such as beets, apples, pears, spinach, kale and carrots. Test you diet every few days and this way you can determine what types of foods are causing your flare-ups.   Sugar equal empty calories and that’s a fact.  Most high-sugar based food products like cakes, cookies, soda and candy bar have little to no essential nutrients.  Not only does sugar consumption cause more physically problems, but will almost always excerbate your acne condition.

As a temporary solution consider having makeup applied via an airbrush. These airbrush kits are used by professionals and can give the illusion of flawless skin. They can be quite an investment to purchase, yet you can visit a salon that offers airbrush makeup services and attend your event with a flawless face!
